The Gardens Trust and CGTs publish books and reports of the research carried out by their volunteers during campaigns or celebrations. Even landscapes by famous designers like Capability Brown are still at risk from development. Reports like Vulnerability Brown help to draw attention to these problems and encourage owners and councils to cherish their heritage. Publishing research can support the case for Historic England to include landscapes on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens. Parks and gardens which are registered because of their historic interest are protected through the planning system. This means that councils and owners have to consult the Gardens Trust about any developments, which is our formal role in the planning system.
