Linden’s Marathon Journey

In 2025, our Director Linden Groves successfully completed the London Marathon and as part of her training journey visited parks around the UK to meet the people who help look after them.

To find out why protecting parks and gardens in the UK is so important, watch Linden’s marathon journey below.

The Walks, Kings Lynn

Linden meets the team who care for this beautiful and historic landscape in Norfolk including Claire Thompsett, Operations Manager; David Hall, Team Leader; and Gary Walker, Friends of the Walks Volunteer.

Benmore Botanic Gardens, Scotland

Linden visits the beautiful Victorian botanic gardens at Benmore and chats to recently retired Curator Peter Baxter about the challenges of managing botanical gardens and the successes of their conservation programmes.

National Botanic Garden of Wales

On her next stop, Linden meets Don Murray, Head of Horticulture at the National Botanic Garden of Wales who explains why botanic gardens are so important to us now and in the future.

Sheffield Botanical Gardens

Linden meets Jill Sinclair from the Friends of Botanical Gardens Sheffield to talk about its intriguing history (including it’s surviving bear pit!), their vibrant and busy volunteer group and what the Gardens mean to local people today.

Wicksteed Park

Join Linden as she meets Kelly Richardson and runner Elise Downing from Wicksteed Park, who are making it an exciting and accessible park for the local community and visitors from further afield.

Kenwood

Crissy Mulrain, Head Gardener at Kenwood in London talks to Linden about the history of its designed landscape and how the team there help to conserve and protect it for future generations to enjoy.
