We’re launching a new volunteer training project researching historic parks and gardens within the area of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPS) and we’re inviting you to take part.
Following the success of our Suffolk’s Unforgettable Garden Story project, we’re recruiting volunteers in the East of England to discover more about the history and stories of designed landscapes within the area of planned NSIPs – large scale projects in England and Wales that are deemed critical to our national economic sustainability and climate resilience.
This project will help us champion the importance of parks and gardens and enable us to better understand the nature and extent of these historic assets. Supported by Historic England, we will be able to explore how best to share and celebrate unexplored historic designed landscapes to help inform development necessary for the country to become better equipped to deal with the effects of climate change.
The project will run until the Autumn of 2026 and will provide free online training on NSIPs and garden history research and recording, delivered by experts from the Gardens Trust and Historic England. For those who are not taking part as project volunteers in the East, but would like to benefit from the training, all of the online learning will be free and made available for anyone to attend.
You can find out more about the project and how to get involved by attending our free online webinar on Thursday 30th January. Book your free ticket here. All those signed up for the event will also receive a link to a recording of the webinar.
