A Garden History course held over three Thursdays at the historic Godinton House in Kent, which will trace the development of the English Landscape Garden throughout the eighteenth century. Alongside our study of key gardens and designers we shall also consider the wider cultural and political context which so influenced this new art form.
A Study Day at Godinton House in Kent, combining Garden History with Literature. We will look at the contemporary trends and fashions in garden design and landscape tourism in Jane Austen’s time, and consider how she uses these in her work to develop and enrich her characters and plots. 10am-3pm. £40, including garden entrance.
